Unutamam

Unutamam is an aromatic, herbaceous, animalic scent created for Men and Women in 2019 by perfumer Miguel Matos.

Review

This is a polarizing scent that may not be for the faint of heart. A blend of herbs meets a floral heart and a rich, slightly resinous base. It conjures an image of a large biker who always wears worn Leather, and who’s hands always seem to be covered in engine oil….and is always working in his herb garden. It’s almost like you can smell each not individually, and all blended together at the same time. Its essence is Leathery and Minty, and powerful. This is not a scent to wear to the office. This is the scent you wear out when you don’t know how crazy your night might get. This is a casual scent you wear out to the bar to play pool and darts and have a good time with friends. It is best suited for Fall, Winter, and early Spring and will last for hours. It has been compared to Caron Yatagan, and has a similar vibe to Bvlgari Black.

Inspiration

Unutamam translates to “I can not forget” in Turkish. It intentionally defies categorization, leaving interpretations up to the wearer. You decide where this journey takes you.

Notes

Lavender, Rosemary, and Juniper start this scent with a pleasing, herbally quality. Slowly but surely, the animalistic quality of the Castoreum and the Leathery tone of Cistus comes creeping up from the base. Jasmine and Carnation in the heart help to temper this sharpness, but just slightly. Oregano and Patchouli keep the herbal quality lasting. The Mint starts to come in with the heart, and sits just under the surface. It never feels too Minty, but it is definitely there, and remains throughout the drydown as it becomes quieter. Amber and Caramel join in towards the end, adding a soft sweetness that almost becomes lost within the inky darkness. A hint of Oakmoss at the end helps to keep the herbally, earthy essence going to the end.
