Fragrance Spotlight: Creed Silver Mountain Water

Silver Mountain Water is an iconic scent from the Creed fragrance house. It was created in 1995 by master perfumer Pierre Bourdon, who created a number of fragrances for the house, and is one of the most popular scents in the lineup today.

The scent takes inspiration from the Alpine mountain region, and perfectly captures the essence of being there.

Bergamot, Orange, and Blackcurrant open the scent with a brightness that makes the Tea and Ozonic Accord really pop. Galbanum adds a bit of depth, and a base of Musk and Sandalwood add an aromatic woodiness.

This blend really does recreate an aroma that smells like fresh mountain air. That “je ne sais quoi” crisp and clean quality that snow brings to the air. A faint hint of woodiness, perhaps from being surrounded by the trees off to the side of the ski slopes. A mineral-like quality, perhaps from the cold rock face of the mountain.

Pierre Bourdon really created magic when he made this scent…..very likely with a brief inspired by Olivier Creed’s family memories of skiing in the Alps.

The scent pyramid breaks down as:

Top Notes: Bergamot, Blackcurrant, Galbanum, Orange
Heart Notes: Tea, Ozonic Accord
Base Notes: Musk, Sandalwood

While it was created as universal fragrances, and can be worn by anyone, it leans slightly masculine in style.

It is crisp and refreshing, earthy and aromatic, and gently warm. It’s a perfect year round scent that is suitable for pretty much any time, place, or occasion.

Try it for yourself and see what kind of picture it paints in your mind.
