Pineapple In Fragrance
Pineapple has been in fragrances forever, and has been featured as a prominent, or main, note in fragrances for nearly 100 years. Jean Patou’s Colony, released in 1938, is said to be the first Pineapple-forward fragrance created.
Pineapple seems to really have become popular with Creed’s Aventus, which features a prominent Pineapple note alongside a few other fruits, Birch, Ambergris, and Vanilla. Its appealing composition has made it one of the most popular fragrances for Men, and some Women, to this day.
In fragrances, Pineapple isn’t always the main note, but it always adds a bit of sweetness that usually makes any other fruits and/or citruses nice and juicy.
It’s a fruit note that usually smells pretty realistic. It usually has a more juicy and intense nuance that the real thing, but doesn’t smell fake like some fruit accords can.
No matter what fragrances Pineapple can be found in, it almost always adds a fun, refreshing, Summer vibe to a scent, and can brighten up any spice or wood blend it’s added to.
Fruity Floral Attar from the Parfumerie Nasreen Attar Collection - Is bright and juicy with Pineapple, Melon, and Strawberry. Jasmine adds its own kind of floral intensity while Amber adds a creamy warmth.
Creme de Cuir from BDK Parfums - This is an interesting scent. Pineapple plays a prominent role, but at the same time, you might not know that’s what you were smelling until you see the note breakdown. Mandarin, Bergamot, Pineapple, and Pink Berries bring a subtle sweetness that invigorates the warmth of the rest of the scent. A Solar Accord helps to brighten a blend of White Suede and Sandalwood, made slightly creamy with the addition of Absolute Vanilla. Birch and Musk bring the depth, which is almost like a quiet whisper. It’s romantic and sensual and casual all at the same time.
Hacivat from Nishane - This scent is like an earthier version of the Creed Aventus. The Pineapple note shines bright when paired with Bergamot and Grapefruit. Patchouli and Patchouli-like Clearwood are blended with Oakmoss, Cedarwood, and Timberwood that creates a crisp, aromatic, gently woody earthiness that never becomes too intense.
The Hacivat X is a cleaner, more citrusy, version of Hacivat.
Al Baariz III from Asgharali - This scent is deliciously seductive and casual at the same time. Bergamot, Apple, and Pineapple are given a little zing from Saffron, all brightening a warm blend of Amber, Sandalwood, and Musk. Vanilla comes in at the end of this scent, keeping the sweeter, lighter notes going strong.
Accento from Xerjoff - Pineapple feels a little more muted in this scent, but once you know it’s there, you can’t not smell it. Pink Pepper keeps the Pineapple note slightly bright as the Hyacinth, Jasmine, and Iris combine to mellow out an earthy base of Vetiver, Patchouli, Amber, and Musk. A touch of Vanilla in the end adds a faint sweetness to the earthy and aromatic quality of this scent.
1872 Feminine from Clive Christian - This scent is bright and refreshing with Bergamot and Pineapple adding a crisp quality to a floral heart where Rose de Mai stands out above the rest. Cedarwood and Patchouli add an earthy depth that remains bright to the end.
Orion from Tiziana Terenzi - This scent is light and fresh with a fruity and earthy nuance. Pineapple is paired with Bergamot, Redcurrant, and Apple to add a fruity twist to the opening. Patchouli, Birch, and Thyme add a gentle earthiness, while Incense, Agarwood, and Musk bring a gentle smoky quality. It’s a fine balance of light and dark.
Aventus from Creed - The OG Pineapple scent. Pineapple is paired with Apple, Bergamot, Pink Berries, and Blackcurrant Leaves to bring a gentle sweetness to an earthy blend of Birch, Patchouli, and Oakmoss. Ambergris brings a creamy warmth, which pairs well with the Vanilla at the end. It maintains earthy, aquatic, fruity vibes.
Pineapple can be found in a variety of fragrance styles, but it usually adds a specific tone to a scent.
