Guidance 46 is a fruity, woody, ambery scent created for Men and Women in 2024 by perfumer Quentin Bisch.
Review
This scent opens with the Bitter Almond shining brightly. Pear and Rose can be felt just under the surface, with a hint of Saffron for a bit of spice. It has a certain sensual tone to it that is enticing. It almost has a feeling of hard candy, but not quite. You can’t quite pick out the Jasmine aroma, but if you’re familiar with Jasmine, you can feel it adding a gentle potency to the mix. A blend of woods, resins, and Amber adds depth, with Vanilla coming up at the end to keep the sweetness lasting. There is an almost syrupy essence that differs this version from the original Guidance, almost Cherry in essence. Where Guidance has a refined sweetness and depth, Guidance 46 is something that runs wild. It’s like a beautiful temptress who has captured your attention, lured you into their space, hypnotized your senses, and you are hopelessly lost in their embrace. There is definitely something more seductive about this version of Guidance. If given enough time to dry down, this could be an anytime, any place scent….but it feels much better suited for intimate moments with someone special, a romantic date night, a night out on the town with friends, or whenever you want to intrigue the senses of all those around you. This scent does lean slightly feminine with all of its sweetness, but is made to be worn by anyone and everyone. Its Extrait format, made with 46% pure oils, gives this scent almost beastly performance. It kind of smells like original Guidance blended with BDK Parfums Rouge Smoking Extrait. Inspiration
Guidance 46 plays with the idea of juxtaposition. There is a depth and a lightness doing a delicate dance on the skin. Where you think you might find something soft, there is an intensity; where you think you might find something rich and intense, there is an elegant gentleness.
Notes
A Bitter Almond note can be felt immediately in the opening of this scent. Pear blends with both Rose Water and Rose notes to intensify the sweetness, while Saffron and Frankincense combine to bring a subtle spice. Hazelnut lies just under the Saffron, adding to the sweet and spicy aspects, while Pink Pepper adds a nice bright pop. Sambac Jasmine and Osmanthus bring a hint of a floral essence to the heart of the scent, but more so add to the potency and intensity. Sandalwood, Akigalawood, and Georgywood bring a woody essence, that isn’t quite the type of woody you would expect. They blend with the resinous essences of Cistus and Cypriol to create a warm depth to break up all the sweetness. Ambrette and Ambergris combine with Vanilla to keep both the sweetness and warmth lasting, with the Amber notes adding a subtle velvety essence to the finish of the scent.
