Jicky is a fresh, green, aromatic fragrance created for Women in 2021 as part of the Guerlain Les Legendaires Collection.
Review
This scent has a vintage meets modern vibe to it. It’s aromatic and fresh and somewhere in between earthy and green. It has a slightly Fougere vibe to it, but not as much as the Guerlain marketing might suggest. It's more of a Chypre style. As it dries down, it has an almost vegetal-like, or herbaceous, quality to it. At the same time, you can feel the subtle floral notes just under the surface, with Rose peeking out the most…..even then, it is not a ‘Rose’ fragrance either. While it was created for Women, this is definitely something anyone can wear. It’s understated, elegant, bright, and versatile. The slightly vintage quality gives it a semi formal feeling, but the citruses and flowers give it a casual elegance. Overall, it feels more like a ‘going out’ scent versus a casual, everyday, scent. It feels suitable for all seasons and weather, and has decent longevity and projection. It’s comparable to the original Guerlain Jicky.
Inspiration
Jicky takes inspiration from a woman that Aime Guerlain fell in love with while studying in London. The passion he put into the creation of this scent, created a new genre of fragrances that sparked emotion.
Notes
Lavender, Bergamot, Rosemary, and Fern blend to create a Fougere-like essence, that isn’t quite Fougere. Geranium-like Pelargonium blends effortlessly with Rose, but nothing ever becomes too Rosy as Woody Notes and resinous Opoponax add an earthy warmth, leaving a floral essence just under the surface. Vanilla and Tonka keep things mellow, tempering the Woody Notes that come into play again in the base of this scent. In the end, it is a vintage-meets-modern green/floral fragrance.
