Review
This is an elegant and mellow Oud scent. It opens with a blend of Bulgarian Rose, a Hot Sand Accord and Agarwood - Agarwood being used to make Oud, and therefore basically being a less intense version of Oud. Though the Rose is prominent in this scent, this is not your typical Rose and Oud fragrance. There is something more special to it than that. The Rose feels bright, but seems to come and go as the other notes develop, before settling in to stay. Sometimes you get primarily Rose and Oud, sometimes you get sparkling woods. Sandalwood and Amber come in from the base, adding to the woody and warm nuances of the scent, and helping to make this a more subdued Oud fragrance. It feels elegant and graceful and mature. It feels regal and distinguished. You can almost imagine a Sultan, bathed in the smoke of Agarwood Incense, in a palace decorated with an abundance of Roses. This is a scent that can be worn to the office if applied sparingly or given time to dry down. It is best saved for days when you want to make an impression at an important meeting, for date nights, after work drinks with friends, any formal occasion, and any time you simply want to feel good. It is very suitable for the Fall, Winter and Spring months, and it will last on the skin for hours in its Extrait format. It has a similar style to Maison Francis Kurkdjian’s Oud Silk Mood, but less intense.Â
Inspiration
Oudh Imperial is an ode to Dubai and its duality of antiquity and modernity. It evokes the essence of the desert and the fast pace of the bustling city, while paying homage to its history and tradition. It takes the familiar Rose and Oud combination, and makes something new.
Notes
You can smell a blend of the Bulgarian Rose and Agarwood upon initial smell of this fragrance. You can’t really smell the Egyptian Jasmine, but it likely helps to mellow out the Rose. A Hot Sand Accord adds a type of dry spice essence to the scent, while Sandalwood Extract adds to the woodiness, and Amber helps to keep things mellow. Both the Sandalwood and Amber add a hint of their naturally cream elements to the scent, which helps to make sure this scent never becomes too intense. White Musk finishes this scent with a wispy sensuality.
