Themis is a woody, Amber, spicy scent created in 2020 by Paolo Terenzi. Part of the “Titans Collection”, it is one of 8 scents that is inspired by the origins of the world, and the Titans and Titanides who represent the profound forces that determined nature and her rules.
Review
This is a luxurious Oud scent with a striking intensity to it. While it is not the craziest Oud scent out there, it is not one that you start with; it is one you ease into. It has a slightly animalistic quality to it with Black Indian Oudh and Cambodian Oudh blended with Saffron, Resins, Sandalwood and Patchouli. Notes of Star Anise and Vanilla Pod work together to break up some of the intensity, and while it is not necessarily smoky or intensely resinous, it is still resinous, rich, spicy, woody and potent. It almost has a funk to it while also having a sophisticated and regal essence. While it does mellow over time, it remains rich and noticable. Because of all this depth it has amazing longevity and overall performance. It might be a little bit too much for an office setting, and is not really casual. It has a boss vibe. It feels powerful and formal. It is a scent you wear when you want to make an impression. Its intensity also makes it best suited for Fall and Winter weather, and maybe early Spring when there is still a chill in the air. It has a similar vibe to Oud Imperial from Perris Monte Carlo.Â
Inspiration
This scent is named after Themis, Titaness of Justice and Equilibrium, and was the interpreter of the Gods’ will. She was the emblem of unshakable solidity, just like the extraordinary persistence of this fragrance.
Notes
There is no sweetness here. There is power. Spice and Resin lead into a woody heart of Sandalwood, Black Indian Oudh, and more Resin with a hint of Benzoin. The warmth continues with a base of Cambodian Oudh, Patchouli, grassy Cypriol and a touch of Vanilla Pod. Strength and confidence are yours to exude.Â
