Ombre Rose L’Original is a warm, powdery, floral scent created for Women in 1981 by perfumer Francoise Caron.
Review
This scent starts off smelling almost just like baby powder. It’s soft and light and powdery. Though they are in the heart, this is likely due to a blend of Rose, Lily of the Valley, and Iris…..Rose and Iris both known for being powdery. After a moment you can smell the velvety sweetness of the Honey, and faint whispers of the Peach. It never truly becomes sweet, but you can feel the Almond/Vanilla-like essence of Coumarin, and the Vanilla just under the surface. Likewise, nothing ever becomes too dark, but you can smell the Rosewood and Musk bringing a subtle depth to the scent. Overall, it has a slightly vintage vibe to it with an understated, classic, elegance. It feels timeless and refined. It can be worn any time, place, or occasion, and in any season, and is easily dressed up or down. Due to all of this lightness, it is not the scent you want if you’re looking for something powdery with crazy performance. It has a fleeting feeling to it, but will last on the skin for a few hours. It is typically found in the Eau de Toilette format, which plays into its longevity. It’s a great pick if you want something truly light, that you could potentially either reapply or layer a new scent on top of for your evening activities. It has been compared to rose Noire by Giorgio Valenti. TRY THIS SAMPLE AND LET US KNOW WHAT YOU THINK!

Notes
The blend of Rose, Lily of the Valley, and Iris creates an essence very similar to baby powder in the opening of the scent. It stays powdery overall, but transforms throughout the dry down. Honey comes in next, bringing an almost velvety warmth and a hint of sweetness as it pairs with creamy Ylang Ylang. The faintest hint of Peach can be felt for a fleeting moment. Coumarin, a hay-like, Almondy Vanilla leaning note, pairs with Vanilla and the cream, wood essence of Sandalwood which is both sweet and warm. Rosewood is found in the opening of the scent, but brings depth to the base of the scent. Musk adds a final wispy vibe to the dry down of the scent, adding to the powdery nuance, as well as the warmth.
