Review
This scent is immediately complex. There is a depth that comes from Frankincense, Labdanum, resinous Mystikal, and Ambergris, but also a lightness from the Lily of the Valley and Rose. It’s a smoky and soapy scent. It is described as Aldehydic, and it is, in an oddly sensual way. There is something about it that has a slightly similar facet to Amouage’s discontinued scent Fate Woman. It conjures an image of being at an exorbitant party somewhere in the Middle East, and there are bubbles floating around that release smoke and an exotic floral aroma when they pop. It feels both exotic and familiar at the same time. There is so much going on in this scent, it almost makes your head spin. There is a slight intensity to this scent that makes it slightly unsuitable for the office or times when you might be in a small enclosed space. It has the vibe of a year round scent, but might be too much for the summertime. It feels like the perfect scent for getting dressed up and going out for drinks with friends, on a date, or anytime you want to feel incredibly appealing and/or capture the attention of someone special. While it is a universal fragrance, it does have a slight feminine lean to it due to its floral essence. Even then, it is a fantastic fragrance for anyone who loves Lily of the Valley. It has an intensity that makes it last for hours of the skin. It has been compared to many other fragrances created by Quentin Bisch, including Amouage Guidance.
Inspiration
Existence was inspired by, and created around, Lily of the Valley. This flower represents purity, happiness and sweetness, but is also very poisonous. Existence dances the line between exotic and familiar, paying homage to the endless serenity of this flower.
Notes
Lily of the Valley and Rose open this scent with a creamy soapiness that very quickly becomes rich and smoky with Frankincense, Mystikal, and Labdanum. Ambergris and Benzoin bring a velvety quality that is somewhere in between smoky and sweet, and a final note of White Musk adds a hint of seduction. Everything blends like a chaotic hurricane on the skin, at times being clean and creamy and soapy, and at other times being rich and smoky with a hint of creaminess.
