Arethusa is an aromatic, floral, aquatic scent created for Men and Women in 2014 by perfumer Paolo Terenzi.
Review
This scent is soft, sweet, and romantic with an aquatic vibe. Fruits and Citrus notes blend with Salt, Sand, soft woods, and grassy notes. If you close your eyes, you can almost smell an ocean breeze coming from somewhere nearby. While this scent stays intimate and close to the skin, it will last. It will work for any time, place, or occasion you find yourself in, and is safe for the office. It will work well in any season, but is best suited for the Spring and Summer months. It is comparable to Armani Idole.
Inspiration
Arethusa takes inspiration from a Greek love story. Alpheus, a River God, fell in love with a Nymph named Arethusa. In an effort to escape his attentions, Arethusa fled to the island of Ortigia, in Syracuse, where she was transformed into a stream. Alpheus then became a river, allowing him to travel through the seas to join Arethusa’s stream.
Notes
An intoxicating melange of fruits energizes you right away. Orange, Plum, Fig, Pink Grapefruit, Orange Blossom, and Pomegranate are blended with the soft spiciness of Saffron and zesty zing of Ginger, some soft flowers, and touches of Sandalwood, Sagebrush, and Heather. In the base, a warmth is delivered with Patchouli, Vetiver, and Leathery Notes. The aquatic quality comes in with Marine Cistus, Salt, and White Sand, which are all boosted with the fruit essences above, and the grassy, flowery tones of Broom and Arbutus. The Mediterranean comes to life on the skin with this incredible blend!
