Chinotto Dark is a fresh, spicy, balsamic scent created for Men and Women in 2018 by perfumer Marco Abaton.

Review

This scent is immediately refreshing and invigorating. The Chinotto plant plays its part in this scent with its flowers, leaves and peel all being used in this scent. The resinous essence of Balsam blends with earthy Juniper, smoky Incense, and sharp Absinthe for a scent that is like nothing else. Over time, it does resemble the cola-like quality of Chinotto Soda, a carbonated beverage that uses the Chinotto Fruit and is popular in Italy. This is a scent that can be worn any time, place or setting, for any occasion, and during any season. Though light, it will maintain good longevity.

Inspiration

Brought to Savona from China over 300 years ago, the Chinotto plant has thrived in this Italian landscape. Over time, it became known to sailors as an amulet of protection. Marco Abaton uses the Chinotto plant to pay homage to his hometown and its rich history.

Notes

This scent opens with the Chinotto Plant in all its glory. Chinotto Flowers, Chinotto Leaves, and the peel of the Chinotto Fruit create an invigorating green, earthy, citrus element that brightens the resinous Balsam. Juniper adds a clean, earthy tone, Incense adds a slight smoky essence, and Absinthe adds a gentle sharpness, all within the base of this scent. The combination is a unique scent that is bitter and refreshing at the same time.
