Review
This scent smells almost crisp and woody. The Caramel is rich and intense, and the Grapefruit adds something that makes it almost like a burnt Caramel note. You can smell the Bulgarian Rose under the surface, but it never turns into a Rose scent. Agarwood comes up from the base, adding an actual woody element to the scent that ends up becoming slightly smoky. The Sandalwood and Amber add a smooth warmth, with the Amber lingering nicely. As everything dries, it develops into a warm, woody, Amber scent with fleeting hints of the Caramel. It’s enticing and rich and mysterious and elegant and bold. It is a scent that is very fitting for the Fall and Winter seasons, but could also work for those chilly weeks in the beginning of Spring. Its richness feels well suited for both professional and formal occasions, and will work for times when you want to make an impression. While it does have intensity, it won’t feel overpowering, an will last on the skin. It has a vibe kind of like Maison Francis Kurkdjian’s Oud with a faint hint of Rose, Caramel and Amber.
Inspiration
Ilyan is inspired by the mystery and grandeur of ancient palaces built with massive stones and wooden doors that inspire awe. It captures the aromas of smoky Incenses left at altars, the dry heat of the surrounding desert, and the secrets kept in the shadows.
Notes
This scent opens with a smooth Caramel note that begins to feel more like a burnt Caramel note with the addition of Grapefruit. Bulgarian Rose and Jasmine are paired in the heart of the scent, the Jasmine boosting the Rose up gently. Here the Agarwood comes up from the base adding a crisp, slightly smoky, woody essence. The Sandalwood and Amber add a smooth warmth, but the subtle woody smokiness stays. White Musk adds a wispy sensuality to the finish of the scent, while Vanilla keeps the very faint sweetness lasting a little bit longer. Overall, it is a semi-sweet woody scent.Â
