Review
This is a scent that almost takes you back in time. It has a soft, yet warm, powdery floral nuance that recalls the popularity of the Aldehyde style of its time. A floral bouquet is brightened with hints of Bergamot and Peach and warmed with gentle infusions of Patchouli, Vetiver and Musk. It feels elegant and timeless, light and dense, at the same time. The flowers and the warmth of the base creates an almost honeyed floral quality that lends a subtle sensuality that will make you feel alluring. It conjures images of a time when women would wear their best dresses and finest jewelry, and powder and rouge themselves up with their finest cosmetics from France, and attend the plays or symphonies in the city. It is a scent that can be worn any time, place or occasion you desire, and will work especially well for formal occasions and moments when you want to feel your best. While it does last on the skin, it has an intimacy that stays close to your aura and warmth. It shares similarities with Amouage Gold Woman, and many popular Aldehydic scents, like Chanel No.5, but is in a category all its own! TRY THIS SAMPLE AND LET US KNOW WHAT YOU THINK!
Inspiration
Aprege was a scent created for Jeanne Lanvin’s daughter, Marie-Blanch(born Marguerite) as a 30th birthday gift. Its name comes from the word “Arpeggio”, a musical term that fits both as a description of the way the notes unfold on the skin, as well as paying tribute to Marie-Blanche as a talented Violinist.
Notes
This scent opens with a blossoming floral bouquet of Aldehydes, Neroli, Honeysuckle, Jasmine, Ylang Ylang, Iris, Rose, Geranium, Lily of the Valley and Camellia. The powdery essence of the Aldehydes and rich honeyed tones of the Honeysuckle are brightened with Bergamot and Peach. The Coriandre adds the gentlest of spice essences as the warmth of the base begins to set in. Sandalwood, Amber and Benzoin add a slightly woody warmth while Vetiver and Patchouli add a subtle earthiness. Vanilla brings up the finale of the scent, smoothing out the deeper notes. Overall it is an intoxicating blend that recalls another time and place.
