Fragrance Spotlight: Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male

Jean Paul Gaultier’s Le Male has been gaining new popularity thanks to Tiktok. It seems like everyone is on the hunt for it again.

Le Male is an aromatic, fresh spicy, Vanilla fragrance created for Men in 1995 by perfumer Francis Kurkdjian. That’s right, the same man who created the infamous Baccarat Rouge 540.

Most people are in agreement that the Jean Paul Gaultier fragrances are what really put Francis Kurkdjian in the spotlight and solidified his place as a master perfumer in the fragrance world.

Le Male Eau de Toilette is the original fragrance in the lineup of Le Male fragrances. It pays tribute to the sailor, a longtime source of inspiration for Jean Paul Gaultier.

The bottle is shaped like a man’s torso, with ‘assertive’ features, fitted with a sailor’s shirt, a symbol of freedom and seduction.

The aroma references the familiar essence of shaving soap, but is enhanced with the sensuality and warmth of Vanilla. It is clean, warm, sensual, and inviting. A classic and attractive Men’s fragrance in the style of traditional colognes, but with a modern pizzazz.

The scent pyramid is listed as:

Top: Mint
Heart: Lavender
Base: Vanilla

Though there may be more to it than that, it fits the vibe of this scent; traditional meets bold, and classy meets casual.

It was an iconic scent when it came out in the 90’s, and is still an iconic scent today.

Its style has been compared to Herod from Parfums de Marly, and shares similarities with Amyris Homme from the Maison Francis Kurkdjian collection.

Since its creation in 1995, over 50 iterations of Le Male have been released.

You can find the original Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Eau de Toilette at Parfumerie Nasreen!
