Solar scents. Another term that flies around when it comes to fragrances.
The word “Solar” refers to the sun’s rays, or relating to the sun. It is also the Latin word for Sun.
When it comes to fragrances, Solar essentially refers to a ‘sunny’ scent. It could be a scent that has a ‘sunny’ disposition, meaning it is bright, sparkling, or effervescent. Something that energizes the senses and is uplifting. It can even be scents that play with the concept of light.
It could be a scent that smells like vacation, beach days, like sun-kissed skin, suntan lotion, is tropical or warm and inviting. Something that reminds you of the warmth of the sun and/or setting sun.
Solar scents will generally have citrus notes, sparkling fruit notes, Ambers, Salt or Sand accords, Almond, Peach, Coconut, or tropical flowers.
It really boils down to each individual person and what their version of ‘sunny’ means.
Some fragrances will even have Solar Accord or Solar Notes listed in the fragrance pyramid. While broad, this is essentially a blend that creates one note that smells ‘Sunny’.
