Remain is a sweet, spicy, woody scent created for Men and Women in 2026 by perfumer Pierre Negrin.
Review
This scent is sweet with a sort of ‘toasted’ aroma. Toasted Tonka Bean comes to mind. It is likely the Pimento Berry releasing its Cinnamon/Nutmeg/Pepper essence, then blending with the resins, woods, Vanilla and Tonka Bean that are found in the base of the scent. Mandarin brightens this infusion, with Ylang Ylang and Jasmine adding a creamy, petally essence that hints at a floral heart but never really becomes ‘floral’. There is a sweet and smoky essence to this scent that is incredibly delicious. It leans slightly Gourmand, but doesn’t quite go there. The Guaiacwood, Patchouli and Amber deepen the richness without taking away from the sweetness. It is comforting and enveloping with a hint of sensuality. It feels like a sexy Fall scent. This is the scent you will want to wear when you can wrap your favorite Cashmere scarf around you and go grab a coffee and take in the changing colors of the leaves. The double-infusion of sandalwood in Oakwood barrels during the maceration process gives this scent incredible performance. It is safe enough to wear to the office, but it has a more casual vibe to it that will be perfect for just about any other time, place or occasion. It can be easily dressed up or down, and is the perfect pick for anything you do in the colder weather. It has been compared to a spicier version of Musc Ravageur from Frederic Malle, and shares similarities with Mind Games Sissa.
Inspiration
Remain is an olfactory expression of time, and the spark that begins it all. It is the spark that bursts forth, pushing you along on your journey.
Notes
Pimento Berry opens this scent with its Cinnamon/Nutmeg/Pepper essence. Frankincense deepens the intensity of the spice while Vanilla and Tonka Bean sneak their way up from the base, adding to the sweetness. It develops a ‘toasted’ aroma that is reminiscent of Fall deliciousness. Mandarin and Bergamot add a gentle brightness while Ylang Ylang and Jasmine add a subtle creamy floral tone to the heart. If you love Jasmine, you can feel it doing its work here, but this never really becomes a ‘floral’ scent. Guaiacwood, Patchouli and Ambergris deepen the richness without taking away from the sweetness of the rest of the scent. The overall feel is a sensual and Gourmand-leaning scent that will be your constant pick in the cold weather.
