40 Knots is a sweet, aromatic scent created for Men and Women in 2012 by perfumer Chris Maurice.
Review
This scent opens with a citrusy and spicy essence, almost like Tarragon or Ginger. It slowly begins to mellow into an airy Tonka Bean kind of a vibe, with some sort of essence giving a sea air aroma. There is definitely a warm aquatic nuance to the tone of the scent, with what feels like a subtle Ambery warmth. There is a faint smoky or crisp wood essence, but a subtle sweetness remains….perhaps a note of Vanilla….perhaps Honey. It feels like a blend of Spices, Citrus, Tonka Bean, Wood and Vanilla. It paints a picture, perhaps, of an early morning of sailing around the sea on a wooden boat; a subtle sweetness reveals itself in the ocean mist that hits your face as you sail across the waves. It begins to dry with a Vanilla Aquatic essence, and then transforms into an aquatic Fougere type of aroma with a sweet undertone. Something about it is reminiscent of Naxos without the Tobacco, or Amouage Sunshine Woman but much softer and balmier, and a little bit like Initio Parfums Prives Rehab but much softer.
