Burlington 1819 is a citrus, spicy, boozy scent created for Men and Women in 2020 by perfumer Roja Dove.
Review
This scent opens with a tang from the Citruses and Mint. The Ginger, Spices and Rum add a bit of a bite that eventually simmers down into a subtle creamy woody essence. It has an interesting bright booziness that conjures the image of a swanky, yet moody, cigar bar. It feels sophisticated, mature, mysterious and bold. The opening notes feel like they resurface in the dry down, keeping the scent aromatic while allowing the richer notes to unfold freely. This makes the scent a little bit airy, but it still maintains a beautiful depth. It is a scent that has a little more of a formal feel to it, but can be worn any time, place or occasion. It has Spring, Fall, Winter vibes, but also kind of has a year-round-scent essence. After everything settles, it develops a lightness to it, but will definitely last. It has been compared to Turathi Blue from Afnan and Tygar from Bvlgari.
Inspiration
Burlington 1819 takes inspiration from Roja Dove’s flagship store in the Burlington Arcade in London, the Arcade having opened in the year 1819.Â
Notes
This scent opens really bright, fresh and invigorating with Grapefruit, Lime, Mandarin, and Bitter Orange with Mint. Ginger adds a nice bite to the scent that segues nicely into a blend of spices of Cardamom, Cumin, Saffron and Tobacco. Patchouli and Rum add a boozy quality that feels like a freshly made Old Fashion. As all of the spice elements begin to settle, you get hints of the Cedarwood, Casmir Wood and Benzoin, which are mellowed with a sweet blend of Vanilla and Ambergris. A hint of Musk adds a wispy depth that pairs nicely with the essence of the opening notes as they resurface softly to keep the overall scent aromatic within its depth.Â
