Review
This scent is refreshing and aquatic. It blends Mint, Birch, Violet Leaves, Moss, Vanilla, and Cedar to recreate the essence of Summertime on the Sea. It conjures the image of bronzed skin adorned with beads of ocean water, moss covered rocks, beach vegetation…all of the incredible elements of Summer that you never want to forget. There are times where it feels like it leans slightly masculine, but is the perfect oceanic Summer scent for anyone. Even though it feels like the perfect Summer scent, it can work in any season or weather. It has a lightness to it that will make it stay close to the skin, but it will last for hours. It’s a scent that has a casual elegance to it, but feels relatively casual overall. Even then, it can be worn to the office as easily as it can be dressed up or down for any occasion you desire to wear it. Inspiration
Cap d’Antibes was inspired by relaxing Summer holidays in the French Riviera, where Albert Fouquet would spend from the beginning of Spring until the final days of Summer. While dreaming about his Summer getaways during the cold Winter months, he crafted a fragrance for his personal use that would bring the essence of those perfect moments back to him.
Notes
This scent opens with the refreshing essence of Mint paired with the gentle green-ness of Violet Leaves and Moss, and a hint of beachy warmth from Birch. Aromatic Notes add a layer of an Ozonic quality, boosting that ‘ocean air’ essence. Cinnamon plays in the background, most likely adding to the subtle zestiness of the overall feel of the scent. Vanilla keeps the subtle, general sweet essence of everything lasting, while Cedar brings its crisp and clean woodiness to the drydown. Incense adds a subtle smokiness, but mostly adds to the depth and longevity of everything, and boosting the woody tones. It remains a bright and refreshing aquatic scent.
