Review
This scent is fresh, bright and sweet. The notes of this scent all kind of thrive at the same time. The Apple Blossom and Sugar Accord start the scent off sweet. Rhubarb adds a nice sparkle, while Marine Bergamot adds a little bit of a citrus essence and, seemingly, a bit of an aquatic/mineral essence. The Mint adds a nice fresh, herbally pop. Driftwood adds a bit of an earthy/woody essence, but without making the scent ‘woody’ and without taking away from any of the lighter tones. This scent feels light and airy. It conjures an image of being on a road that leads to the sea, with Apple trees lining one side and citrus trees lining the other. Or like a sweet seaside breeze while you’re standing in a garden overlooking the sea, dew still on the leaves and flowers and a small chill in the air. It feels simple, yet elegant at the same time. Its lightness makes it perfect for the Spring and Summer months, but it can be worn any time of the year. It is a scent you can wear any time, place or occasion, being easily dressed up or down. It’s lightness also makes it a scent that stays closer to the skin, but its 25% oil concentration will make it last all day. It has been compared to Acqua di Gio Giorgio.
Inspiration
Crab Apple Blossom was inspired by a scent from the Crown Perfumery Company, which Clive Christian took over in 1999. The 1886 fragrance was created by the owner of Crown Perfumery Company, who was inspired by the blossoms of the Crab Apple Trees on his property in Kensington, London.
Notes
This scent opens fresh and sweet with the gentle essence of Apple Blossom brightened with Marine Bergamot and Rhubarb. The Marine Bergamot adds a subtle aquatic/mineral essence that feels like fresh, sweet, sea air. A Sugar Accord keeps things sweet while a note of Mint adds a refreshing, slightly herbal, zing. Sandalwood and Driftwood add a very gentle depth, never becoming very ‘woody’, but helping the lighter notes to last.
