Encre Noire is a woody, aromatic, earthy scent created for Men in 2006 by perfumer Nathalie Lorson.
Review
This scent pays homage to wood. While this scent was made for Men, it can easily be worn by a woman who loves woods and/or Vetiver scents. It is dark and smoky, at times creating an ‘inky’ essence, and refreshingly crisp at the same time. A perfect blend of Cypress, Vetiver and Cashmere Wood envelopes the senses and conjures images of walking through a forest after a heavy rainfall. The earth takes on a different scent and paints a different story of nature in the mind. It is safe enough for the office, but is much better suited for outdoor adventures. It can be worn in all seasons, and will last. It has been compared to Guerlain Vetiver and Terre d’Hermes by Hermes, and shares slight similarities with Amouge Memoir Man.
Inspiration
Encre Noire takes inspiration from the “Biches” (Hinds) Inkwell designed by Rene Lalique in 1913. Encre Noire translates to “Black Ink” and Hinds, or Does, adorn each intricately designed inkwell.
Notes
Naturally aromatic Cypress blends with a blast of Vetyveryl Acetate (a high quality synthetic Vetiver), and a heart made up of Bourbon Vetiver and Haitian Vetiver. Its darker essence comes from a blend of Cashmere Wood and the slightly smoky nuance of Musk. This ethereal creation will haunt your senses, leaving you reaching for it over and over again!
