French Lavender & King’s Glove is a floral, fresh, earthy scent created for Men and Women by perfumer Michel Germain for the Michel Parfum collection.
Review
This is a refreshing Lavender scent. Grapefruit and Bergamot add a brightness, while Cedarwood and Oakmoss keep things earthy without becoming too heavy. Leather rounds out this scent, giving depth, and a faint Leathery essence, without taking away from the lightness. There’s not too much of any one note, but a well rounded composition that will suit both the Lavender lover and the Leather lover, as well as the love of clean, earthy scents. It almost conjures images of a time when the world did not smell so nice, and people would scent their leather gloves with fragrances in the event that any unpleasant odor became too much for the senses. While it is a unisex scent, it leans very gently in the masculine region. It can be worn to the office as easily as it can be worn for a casual day running errands, to brunch, to happy hour cocktails with friends. It can be worn in any season and in any weather, and will last. It is comparable to Parfums de Marly Darley and Caswell-Massey Lavender.
Inspiration
The Michel Parfum collection takes inspiration from the grandeur and nobility of the royal courts, creating scents that are elegant, sophisticated, and timeless with a touch of sensuality.
Notes
Lavender makes itself known upon first spray of this scent. Bergamot and Grapefruit at a refreshing brightness, and Cedarwood adds a gentle, crisp, woody essence. Jasmin can be felt faintly, making the gentle floral quality of Lavender stand out, and a hint of Oakmoss gives the composition a faint earthy green-ness. Leather rounds out this scent, with a gentle essence of smelling real leather. It never becomes too intense, too leathery, or too spicy, but adds a gentle touch of itself that blends perfectly within everything else.
