Review
With this scent, juicy fruits become entangled with a lush floral bouquet atop Leather. The juxtaposition of light and dark tempts the senses and opens the mind. It is well suited for any time, place, occasion, or season, and has good longevity. It has similarities to Lolita Lempicka and Il Profvmo’s Black Dianthus.
Inspiration
Gardez takes inspiration from the French term, ‘En Garde’, meaning On Guard. In Chess, it is a lost term used to warn an opponent that their Queen is in danger. In this fragrance, it reveals the sacrifices one is willing to make for love, and the strong defense in that fight. “Gardez demonstrates that the strong can be vulnerable, and beauty can be bold and fearless.”
Notes
A lush, sweet beginning is created with Apricot, Blackberry Leaf, and Cassis. A subtle softness ensues in a lush floral bouquet of Orris, Jasmine, and Rosewood. The base warms everything with Black Leather, that is sharp in all the right ways, and crisp Cedarwood. A final note of Popcorn adds an ever-so-subtle toastiness that brightens the darkness.
