Guilty Crush is a sweet, powdery, fruity scent created for Men and Women in 2024 by perfumer Cristian Calabro.
Review
This scent starts off soft and sweet. The opening notes of Black Cherry, Wild Strawberry, Rose and a Lipstick Accord almost smell like strawberry scented doll hair. The Lipstick Accord slowly takes over, blending with Vanilla and Musc to create a smooth and creamy aroma. This blend paired with the fruits of the opening, creates a lipstick aroma that is modern vs ‘vintage’ or ‘old fashioned’. It smells like a fresh, new, lipstick that you’ve just opened, that has a subtle fruity aroma. Sometimes it leans more towards a more subtle aroma even than lipstick….like a fruity scented lip balm. Towards the end, it seems to go back and forth between a doll’s hair aroma and sweet lipstick. It has a sense of nostalgia to it, like childhood. Even then, this scent does not feel childish or too youthful. It takes that nostalgic aroma and makes it feel grown up. Because of all this particular type of sweetness, this scent does lean slightly feminine, but is something that can be worn by anyone who likes a subtle, creamy sweetness in their fragrance. This also makes it a great scent for the Spring and Summer seasons. While it is a little softer, it will last on the skin for hours. It has been compared to La Petite Robe Noir from Guerlain and Creed’s Carmina.
Inspiration
Guilty Crush is inspired by lipstick. Its creamy nuance and the mark it leaves, both metaphorically and physically, the way it can leave a lasting impression, and the way it can make us feel desirable.
Notes
Black Cherry, Wild Strawberry, Rose and a Lipstick Accord get a nice, subtle, sparkle from a note of Champagne, and this all combines to create an aroma similar to scented doll’s hair. After a few minutes, the Lipstick Accord becomes the star of the show, but stays light and sweet versus feeling ‘old fashioned’. The Vanilla and Musc help the scent to stay sweet and creamy, with the Cedarwood and Benzoin pretty much only helping with longevity. They do add a bit of depth, but nothing ever becomes woody or resinous. Overall the scent maintains a sweet, creamy, softly lipstick aroma.
