Review
This scent is fresh and spicy. The Clove and Leather can be felt right at the start. The Lemon Mousse can be felt just under the surface, tempering the spiciness and adding a subtle creaminess without being too Lemony. Tarragon adds a subtle Liquorice-like quality, which intensifies as resinous Styrax comes in aside Vanilla and Candied Fruits. It’s akin to spices and candy and Black Liquorice, with a very subtle aromatic, and a subtle smoky essence. It feels intense and mysterious, and airy and playful at the same time. It’s like a character in a book that you don’t know right away if they’re the villain or the good guy. Eventually everything mellows together and it becomes a somewhat smooth and airy Leather scent. It could be a bit much for the office, and has a somewhat special occasion feel to it, and will work great as an evening fragrance. While it was made for Men, it can be worn by anyone who loves a good spicy, Leather scent. It’s got a subtle projection, and its Parfum concentration will guarantee that it will last. It’s a complex scent that should be tried before deciding upon it. It is comparable to Amouage Opus VII Reckless Leather with a more aromatic and ‘clean’ vibe to it. Inspiration
Homme Anniversary pays homage to the 17th anniversary of Xerjoff Homme with a rugged take on its original Leather scent. Both fragrances pay homage to minerals and semi-precious stones on display at the Natural History Museum in London.
Notes
Even though the Clove and Leather are in the heart of this scent, they can be felt immediately. Together they are almost sharp in their spiciness. For a second it feels like it’s going to be too intense, but then the Bergamot, Orange Blossom, and Lemon Mousse start to settle in, adding a gentle fresh and creamy essence. Tarragon brings its subtle liquorice essence as Moss and resinous Styrax keep things slightly dark with their earthy tones. Vanilla and Candied Fruits round out the end of this scent, kind of adding to the velvety quality of the scent, but also leaning towards a Black Liquorice tone. It’s an interesting sweet, spicy scent with an air of mystery.
