Lalibela is a floral, oriental, sweet scent created for women in 2007 by perfumer Alienor Massenet.
Review
This scent is soft and sweet and creamy. The Coconut Orchid gives sweet Coconut vibes that blend beautifully with Rose, Jasmine, and a very soft Tobacco note. This is a scent that should be tried on the skin, as some people’s skin maintains the sweetness and some brings out the Patchouli and Resins. This scent feels like sweet Summer on the skin. It has a feeling of having spent the afternoon at the beach. You’ve come home with sun kissed skin and tousled hair. You shower and spray on your favorite Vanilla perfume. As you head out for the evening, you smell like a Summer Goddess. This is a scent that is safe to wear to the office, but feels much better suited for casual moments and fun occasions, though it can also be easily dressed up. It is wearable in all seasons, but is perfect for Spring and Summer. It shares similarities with Chopard Casmir, Narciso Rodriguez For Her, and Martine Micallef’s Ylang In Gold.
Inspiration
Lalibela is inspired by the city of Lalibela in Ethiopia. It is said that the angels came down from the heavens and built Lalibela’s twelve churches in a single night.
Notes
A blend of Coconut Orchid enters your senses first. This is an Orchid that blooms flowers that smell like Coconut. Rose and Jasmine add a floral essence that are supporting actors only. A note of Tobacco comes in, adding a gentle smoky essence that never overpowers, but lingers in the perfect way with the help of Patchouli and Frankincense. The subtle warmth of the base adds depth with Labdanum and Rockrose, while a touch of Vanilla adds a subtle sweetness to the end of this scent, helping to keep the opening lasting throughout the dry down.
