L’Heure Bleue is a powdery, floral, spicy fragrance created for Women in 2021 as part of the Guerlain Les Legendaires Collection.
Review
This scent is soft, elegant, and warm. It begins with a delicate floral aroma that turns ever-so-slightly powdery before developing a subtle spiciness. A subtle sweetness lies just under the surface. It has a slightly vintage feeling to it, recalling what it must’ve been like to wear this scent in the 1920’s. It feels smooth and sensual, with a lighthearted quality. It makes you want to get all dolled up and spend a night out on the town. Though it does have this elegant side to it, and will work especially well in formal settings, it will work perfectly for any time, place, or occasion, and in any season. It does have a softness to it where it will eventually become a skin scent over time, but that fits the concept of the fragrance, created “in the most sensual and ‘skin’ way”. It is most comparable to the original L’Heure Bleue from Guerlain.
Inspiration
L’Heure Bleue translates to ‘The Blue Hour’. When Jacques Guerlain created the original L’Heure Bleue in 1912, he was inspired by the velvet sky at dusk and the softness and romanticism it brings to life in this suspended hour.
Notes
This scent has a lightness and freshness as it opens with bright Bergamot and slightly powdery Aniseed. Neroli adds a nice kick to the softness of Carnation and Violet in the heart. Iris is both slightly powdery and creamy as it opens the base. Benzoin adds both sweetness and a gentle smokiness to the scent, creating a gentle sensual essence. Final notes of Vanilla and Tonka Bean bring a slight Vanillic essence to the base, keeping things gently sweet.
