LX48 is an aromatic, Tobacco, Leather scent created for Men by perfumer Jean-Marc Challain.
Review
This scent is a subtle Tobacco scent that is almost soapy or powdery, but in a good way, and gives faint hints of its Oakmoss heart. It is soft and inoffensive with a slight vintage style. It is a sophisticated scent for the ambitious man. It is a great scent for those looking for a good Tobacco scent that isn’t too intense. It is a great scent for the workplace, especially when you want to make a good impression, and will work well for any semi-formal, formal, or evening occasion. It’s not quite casual, but will work in casual settings. Though slightly dark, it will maintain a softness that will last. It can work in all seasons, but might be too much for hot weather. It has been compared to Rebecca Minkoff by Rebecca Minkoff and shares similarities with Royal Crown Royal Tabac Royal and Velvet Fire from The Harmonist. Try this sample and let us know what you think!
Inspiration
LX48 pays homage to Caswell-Massey’s former flagship store that was located at Lexington Avenue and 48th Street in Manhattan. The scent takes inspiration from a time when fragrances were bespoke and powerful men would enjoy cigars and good company in wood-paneled club rooms adorned with Leather-bound furniture.
Notes
Violet and Geranium start this scent off with a dark floral essence. Tobacco comes in at the heart, paired with the green nuance of Oakmoss, and lasts throughout the remainder of the dry down. Cedarwood lifts the Tobacco slightly, while a Vintage Leather note adds a gentle sharpness that keeps this scent interesting.
