Ormonde Man is a spicy, woody, aromatic scent created for Men in 2004 by perfumer Geza Schoen. It was re-released in 2024 as a Parfum.
Review
This scent begins spicy, transitions to woody, then becomes a foresty aromatic scent. A blend of spices is brightened with Bergamot, after which Oudh and Black Hemlock are lightened with a dose of Juniper. Vetiver and Cedar keep things woody and aromatic as this scent dries down. Throughout all the woody nuances, a refreshing aspect remains throughout the composition. This is the scent of the outdoors. The aroma of freshly fallen trees permeates the crisp mountain air. This scent is rugged, but also sophisticated. It will work perfectly in an office setting, can be dressed up for formal functions, and works just as well for any and all casual settings. It can be worn in all seasons, and will last while slowly mellowing into something intimate. It has been compared to Costume National Homme.
Inspiration
Ormonde Man is inspired by a trip to Laos to experience the Agar Forest, and to see first-hand the Oudh distillation process.
Notes
Pink Pepper Cardamom, and Coriander Seeds create a blast of spice in the opening. Bergamot adds a gentle freshness, just before the woody heart opens to the senses. Oudh and Black Hemlock add a dark and mysterious element that keeps your attention. A dose of Juniper Berry blasts onto the scene, lightening things into a more casual aroma. Vetiver and Cedar lead the way from the base, adding an earthy green quality to this scent. Sandalwood and Musk bring up the base, adding depth and a quietly sultry vibe.
