Oud Liaisons is a smoky, woody, floral scent created for Men and Women in 2025 by perfumers Anne-Louis Gautier and Linda Pilkington.
Review
This scent opens with a mysterious darkness. Oud without any sharpness. This is likely a blend of the Oud, Suede and Guaiac Wood, which are all found in the heart of this scent. The Lemon and Pink Pepper add a gentle effervescence, and the Rose and Liquorice add a faint sweetness. The Patchouli and Amber set in later, maintaining the depth, warmth and smooth woodiness of the scent. Its theme of contrast is spot on as you get a sensual smokiness, and a delectable sweetness, swirling together under the surface. It’s like you’re in a dark corner of a cave, with a small fire going that gives just enough light to see the bits of foliage and flowers that somehow live in this mysterious place. It has an intensity to it that feels like the scent a powerful, billionaire, CEO would wear on a day full of traveling to various meetings. They mean business and their intensity slightly terrifies all those around them. This is definitely a Fall and Winter fragrance, and could work in the colder beginnings of Spring, and will last. If given time to dry down it can be an office scent, but feels best reserved for times, places and occasions of importance. A scent for times when you want to make an impression and feel your absolute best. This is a scent of confidence. It’s reminiscent of the Maison Francis Kurkdjian Oud and Oud Velvet Mood.
Inspiration
Oud Liaisons is a scent inspired by contrasts. “Smoke and silk, power and grace, mystery and clarity.” It’s an interesting and intriguing blend of dark smokiness and smooth sweetness.
Notes
This scent opens with the essences found in the heart; Suede smooths out any harshness you might expect for a blend of Oud and Guaiac Wood. Slowly you begin to feel the brightness of Lemon and Pink Pepper, which add a gentle effervescence to the beginning of the scent. Rose and Liquorice add gentle sweetness that feels faintly creamy, but not quite. After a while, the depth of the base starts to set in, giving this scent a more powerful vibe. Patchouli and Sandalwood add a smoky quality that entices the senses. Ambroxan and Musk continue to help things from becoming too sharp or resinous. Overall it’s a smoky, woody scent with a hint of sweetness.
