Reasons is a warm, sweet, Woody scent created for Men and Women in 2024 by perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour.
Review
This scent is a little bit sweet, almost in a fruity way, but not quite. You definitely get the sweet spices right off the bat, and then a bit of the Amber and Davana which most likely gives that fruit-like essence. It almost feels like there is a Lactonic quality to the scent. It’s likely the blend of Hazelnut and Cinnamon, paired with the Amber and Davana, and then maybe the Benzoin and Sandalwood in the base. It’s sweet and warm, subtle and pleasing. Slowly, a quiet earthiness seeps into the mix, with Pine seeming to shine within a mixture of woods, resins and grass notes. There is depth from the earth notes, a very subtle outdoorsy essence from the woods, and a lingering sweetness from the opening notes. It’s like someone is wearing a phenomenal Vanilla perfume while hiking in the woods as the earth comes to life in the beginning of Springtime. It is a great scent for those who like something earthy with a hint of sweetness. Its subtlety gives a quite sophistication, but is also elegantly casual. It has a lightness and intimate vibe to it, but it will last. The double-infusion of sandalwood in Oakwood barrels during the maceration process gives this scent incredible performance. It is a great scent for the Fall, Winter and Spring seasons. It will work well for any and all occasions, being easily dressed up or down for whatever is on your calendar. It has been compared to Oud For Happiness from Initio Parfums Prives.
Inspiration
Reasons is an olfactory expression of time; the Past. We build upon our past. It adds depth, meaning and value to our present and future selves.
Notes
A sweet spicy blend of Cardamom, Hazelnut, Cinnamon and Schinus Molle(Pepper Tree) opens this scent. It adds a nice warm pop to the sweetness of Amber and Davana. The Benzoin and Sandalwood bring their own kind of creaminess to the scent, and everything blended together, temporarily, gives the scent an almost Lactonic vibe. A mellow earthiness then develops as Patchouli, Pine and Cashmeran begin to reveal themselves. Cistus and Myrrh add to the subtle warmth, while Cedarwood and Palo Santo add a very gentle woodiness to the scent. Cypriol, Vetiver and Oakmoss deepen the earthiness of the scent, and a final note of Musk adds a wispy quality that plays well with the sweetness. Though there are many woods and earth notes in this scent, they never become too much, letting the lighter and sweeter notes shine brightly.
