Review
This scent is warm and sweet with a velvety touch of spice. Though Vanilla sits in the base of this scent, you can smell it right from the beginning. Myrrh adds a warmth that is smoothed over by the Vanilla, and Saffron adds its familiar sweet spicy essence, with a bit of a bright pop from the Pink Pepper. There is a faint smokiness that fades in and out from the Myrrh, but it is a velvety and buttery and gently sweet scent. The blend of spicy and sweet is perfection. It is a scent that can be worn to the office as easily as it can be worn casually. It feels like the perfect Fall/Winter scent, but can also work in the Springtime. It has a very cozy vibe to it that leans ever so slightly sensual and intimate, and is casually elegant. Though it may stay closer to the skin, it will last. It is comparable to Hypnotizing Fire from The Harmonist.
Inspiration
Serenite En Bourgogne was inspired by Albert Fouquet’s time at the family chateau, where he oversaw the grape harvest and spent a month of serenity in the vineyards and gardens. This time was his “serenity in Burgundy”.
Notes
Vanilla makes itself known immediately upon spraying this scent. It slowly gets warm and slightly richer as Myrrh brings a gently smoky depth. It’s almost resinous and rich, but not quite. Saffron and Pink Pepper add a nice pop that is ever so slightly sweet, and almost a fizzy kind of spicy. It creates a warm and cozy warmth on the skin that is comforting and intimate.
