Review
This scent is fresh and invigorating. Itâs crisp and clean with a bit of a masculine lean to it. The Lemon and Cardamom create an interesting fresh and spicy opening to the scent that is very pleasant to the nose. Violet Leaves add a hint of a green quality, giving the scent a very gentle barbershop style to the scent. Sandalwood adds a very subtle woody essence and Vetiver a very subtle green and grassy quality, both adding a very soft depth to the scent. There is a very faint aroma of a kind of green, mint-like, almost gum-like quality that develops as the scent dries. This is likely from the Lemon, Cardamom and Violet Leaves blending together. This is fleeting and turns into an aroma like the skin smelling of the outside. Amber begins to reveal itself as everything dries and mellows, boosting the Sandalwood, and adding a subtle warmth to the finish of the scent. It remains elegantly casual and effortless. It ends up smelling like a modern barbershop/clean/soapy/creamy/green scent - in a freshly showered kind of way - with a faint Sandalwood essence. Itâs an anytime, any place, any occasion fragrance that can be dressed up or down for anything. While it does become softer and more intimate on the skin, it will last for hours. Inspiration
The Original is a fragrance inspired by the scent that Albert Fouquet had created as his own personal scent. It inspired the name of the company, with the story going that, a chance encounter with a young JFK prompted Fouquet to give him a small sample of his personal fragrance, which resulted in JFK reaching out to Fouquet for Eight full bottles, âand, if possible, one for Bobâ. When Fouquetâs fragrances and ârecipesâ were found, stored in hollowed out books, his fragrances were recreated, with new scents added that were inspired by his life. The brand was named Eight & Bob, and The Original was the first of the recreations, and Albert Fouquetâs original scent.
Notes
This scent opens fresh and clean with the Lemon and Pink Pepper creating a bright and effervescent brightness. Cardamom adds a faint hint of spiciness while Violet Leaves add a very gentle green essence. As things begin to dry, the sandalwood reveals a soft version of itself, making things feel ever-so-slightly woody. The Vetiver keeps the green essence going with its naturally grassy aroma. As everything blends together, the Lemon, Violet Leaves and Cardamom create an aroma that is a little bit green, a little bit minty and a little bit bubblegum like. In the end, the Amber brings a very gentle and smooth warmth to the finish of the scent, boosted gently from the Labdanum in the heart. It never becomes too woody or too warm, but is a fresh, clean, green, invigorating scent with a touch of warmth and depth.
