Review
Thorny 6 is a deep and intense Rose scent. Bulgarian Rose is lifted and enveloped by Frankincense and Oud, creating an almost dirty, earthy essence. It kind of conjures an image of a large Rose bush with fresh beauty bark and mulch. As the intensity dies down, the scent develops a beautiful smoky floral essence with faint hints of the Raspberry and Vetiver. It is not simply a Rose and Oud scent, it is more than that. This is a very earthy, rich, smoky scent that captures a piece of the rich heritage of the Middle East. Its intensity may make this scent too much for an office setting, but will work well for any times or occasions where you want to get dressed up and have all eyes drawn to you. It has a sensuality to it that will work very well for date nights, drinks out with friends, when you want the attention of that someone special, or anytime you want to feel sexy. It will work well in the Fall, Winter and early Spring months. It is comparable to Oud Silk Mood from Maison Francis Kurkdjian and Oud Imperial from Perris Monte Carlo. Inspiration
Thorny 6 takes inspiration from the Arab tradition known as Ta’Teer or Tabkheer(perfuming with smoke). It is a ritual where the bride is wafted with a type of Incense called Bakhoor, wood chips soaked in fragrant oils and Ouds. It symbolizes purification, blessings, welcoming joy and warding off negative energy.
Notes
This scent opens with the intensity of Bulgarian Rose blended with Frankincense and Oud. It is dense, rich and earthy. After a while, things tone down a bit and with the help of Raspberry, Green Notes, Lily of the Valley, Vanilla and Vetiver, the richness is simmered and a beautiful smoky essence develops. Musk and Sandalwood keep things going strong through the dry down. It is not your typical Rose and Oud scent, but it is Rose and Oud through and through.
