Coconut In Fragrance
Coconut in fragrance can range from fresh and invigorating, with a Coconut Water essence, to dense, creamy and sweet with a Coconut Milk essence.
Because Coconut has a naturally ‘tropical’ vibe to it, in fragrance it can have an aroma that is tropical and has a scent that smells like vacation, or it can go in a direction where it smells sweet and floral or dessert-like.
In most fragrances with Coconut, it is one of the front-and-center notes, but sometimes it is gentle and falls into the background, lending only a hint of itself.
Virgin Island Water from Creed - This scent smells like Coconut Water, like some sort of tropical drink you might have on a vacation at some island paradise. Lime and Coconut infuse themselves within each layer of the scent, adding a juicy quality to bright blend of Mandarin, Bergamot, Hibiscus, Jasmine, Ylang Ylang and Tropical Woods
Line 618 from Amouage - This scent is sweet, creamy and floral with a rich Leathery essence, and a subtle tropical aroma. Peach, Plum, Pineapple and Heliotrope add to the creamy sweetness of the scent while Pine, Patchouli, Sandalwood and Guaiacwood add to the opulent depth.
Queening from Mind Games - This scent is sweet and bright with a light and uplifting essence that is something along the lines of a Vanilla and Citrus Whipped Cream essence. This comes from an intoxicating blend of Whipped Vanilla Bean, Apple, Coconut, a hint of Iris, Musk and Rum.
Playmate from Mind Games - In this scent, a note of Coconut Milk hides under the surface, boosting the creamy, and slightly tropical, elements of Tuberose, Gardenia and Tiare Flower. Musk, Vanilla Bean, Sandalwood and Amber, and a tiny hint of Lemon, add a warm sweetness. The mix of everything creates an aroma almost like you’re breathing in the warm night air of a tropical island.
Keep Glazed from THoO - This scent is a sweet, dessert/gourmand scent that was inspired by the glazed cakes of pastry chef Ksenia Penkina. It blends Coconut Rape(shredded Coconut) with Frozen Lemon, Mango, Strawberry Leaf, Chantilly Cream and Ginger Crumble with hints of Musk and Woods. The end result lies somewhere between the aromas of Sorbet, Shaved Ice and Lemon Cake.
LP02 Peacock Feather from Le Persona - This scent is refreshingly bright and invigorating. A blend of Lemon, Lime, Bergamot that creates an almost fizzy brightness before Coconut infuses itself into the mix, though relatively gently, followed by a soft whisper of Lavender. Amber adds a hint of warmth to the finish of the scent, but it remains bright and fresh.
Santal Complet from Fragrance du Bois - In this scent, the Coconut note is very fleeting, adding a gentle sweetness to the opening of the scent as it’s paired there with Lemon and a zing of Black Pepper. You might not even realize it’s Coconut you’re smelling, it’s so light. After a few minutes it fades away, simply helping the subtle creaminess of the Sandalwood to unfold. It may also help to add to a faint Caramel-like essence that develops as the Sandalwood blends with the Amber and Vanilla in the base.
Bonbon Pop from THoO - In this scent, Coconut blends with Peach to create an essence that is almost reminiscent of Taffy. The sweetness eventually fades into the warmth of Patchouli, Amber and Woods, helping this scent to dry down into a sweet, yet rich, warm Amber scent.
Le Pari d’Honfleur from Eight & Bob - This scent has an interesting green sweetness to it. It’s ultimately a Fig forward scent, which is boosted by Coconut. You can feel the Coconut under the surface, but the juicy essence of the Fig is stronger. A blend of Cardamom, Violet and Cedarwood adds a gentle, green essence that feels like you're in a field of Fig trees.
Casmir from Chopard - This is a classic scent with a gentle, modern, fruity twist. Mango, Peach, Apricot, Blackcurrant and Coconut add a sweetness that becomes creamy as they mix with the warmth of Amber, Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Patchouli, and Sandalwood, and the floral tones of Jasmine, Geranium and Lily. The Coconut kind of hides in the background of this scent, but if you love Coconut, you can get hints of it.
So you can see that Coconut in fragrances can have a variety of aromas.
