Ethereal typically means light, sheer, clean, something from heaven, otherworldly, etc.
To me, it also evokes the idea of something that takes you to another place. A scent that strongly brings back a memory, or makes you think of some imaginary, otherworldly place.
Maybe it paints an image in the mind of a place you imagined from a book, or what some magical place might smell like.
I believe that fragrances can have the ability to take our minds away from reality, to another time or place, whether real or imaginary.
I’m going to talk about a few fragrances that take my mind somewhere vivid. I find that once you share what you think a fragrance smells like, other people will let their imagination take them there too.
Cassili from Parfums de Marly - This scent makes me think of opening a bag of Peach Gummy Rings, shoving my nose in the bag, and taking a giant whiff. It smells sweet and sugary, and intensely Peachy. It’s actually a blend of Plum Accord, Red Currant and Plumeria that combine to create this intensely Peachy essence. While the fruitiness lingers throughout the scent, things eventually mellow into a slightly fruity, slightly tropical, floral fragrance with White Flowers, Rose and Mimosa. The sweetness lasts with the help of Vanilla and Tonka Bean in the base, and a hint of creamy Sandalwood. It is effervescent and sparkling until the end.
Queen of the Sea from New Notes - This scent combines Lemon, Pink Grapefruit, Neroli and A Marine Accord with a floral heart, and the warmth of Patchouli, Precious Woods and Musc. The aroma creates the aroma of what I imagine a Mermaid Lagoon might smell like; a Siren come onto land with the scents of the sea forever lingering on her skin and in her hair; or a day swimming and sunbathing. It evokes an essence of water, sweet grasses, flowers, and earth.
Ormonde Woman from Ormonde Jayne - This scent makes me think of a divine enchantress who lives deep in the woods. When you come upon her, she is magical and mysterious.
This essence comes from a blend of Black Hemlock, Grass Oil, Vetiver, Cedarwood and a hint of Jasmine. It’s earthy, woody, mossy, and feminine with a witchy vibe.
These are just a few of the ethereal scents you can find at Parfumerie Nasreen, but the potential for interesting fragrances is unending!
