Fragrance Spotlight: Byblos for Women

Byblos began its journey as a fashion house in 1973. Named after the Byblos Hotel in St. Tropez in France, this Italian brand followed the trend of the time by releasing a number of fragrances after its success with fashion.

The very first fragrance that Byblos released was Byblos For Women in 1990, created by perfumer Ilias Ermenidis, who has also created fragrances for Lancome, Gucci, Calvin Klein, Nishane, Clive Christian, and Parfums de Marly.

Following the trends of aquatic, beachy, watery fragrances that were popular during this time, it was a fruity, floral, sweet fragrance with an aquatic vibe.

Byblos has a dark and sweet vibe that develops into a sweet and beachy scent. It feels casual and sensual at the same time. It creates an image of being on vacation in some tropical place, where you can feel the heat in the air at all times. You’ve spent everyday, all day, at the beach. You’re sun-kissed and you just smell like the beach and the ocean at all times now. This evening, you’re freshly showered and perfumed after a long day at the beach relaxing and exploring the city. Your bronzed skin is exposed and your hair has those fantastic beachy waves you’ve always wanted. You’re sitting at the beachside bar, sipping fruity cocktails. The heat makes your floral perfume create a seductive cloud around you. Your floral scent blends with the fruity aroma on your lips and you are in heaven.

The scent pyramid breaks down as:

Top Notes: Bergamot, Mandarin, Blackcurrant, Grapefruit, Pepper, Peach

Heart Notes: Mimosa, Lily of the Valley, Lily, Honeysuckle, Violet, Iris

Base Notes: Red Fruits, Vetiver, Musk, Raspberry, Heliotrope

Byblos for Women was officially reformulated in 2002, and mostly likely again between now and then.

While other fragrances were created under the Byblos house, Byblos for Women seems to have been the most popular and the one that has lived the longest.

While you can tell that it would have had more potency in its original format, it is still a beautiful fragrance that works well in the world of today’s fragrances.

You can find Byblos, most of the time, at Parfumerie Nasreen.
