Smell Like A Forest

Smell Like A Forest

There are many variations on woody fragrances, and one of them is smelling like a literal forest.

Taking it a step further, there are different variations on smelling like a forest as well.

In this blog I’ll be describing some of these different variations, painting a picture in your mind of what you might be able to expect on your skin.

Of course, these can vary from person to person, but they are all definitely worth a try.

Oud for Greatness Neo from Initio Parfums Prives is like the fraternal twin of the original Oud for Greatness. There are so many similarities, but they are different beings. The original is a smooth and rounded Oud fragrances. Neo is still smooth and rounded, but Lavender Orpur and Fir Balsam add a subtle forest-like green essence that makes this version more mellow than the original.

Memoir Man from Amouage blends Sandalwood and Guaiac Wood with the earthy tones of Vetiver, Wormwood, Oakmoss, Lavender, Basil, Leather, and Tobacco, and hints of Rose, Mint, and Absinthe. This combination creates an aroma similar to being in a Pine Forest.

Encre Noire from Lalique blends three different types of Vetiver with Cypress, Cashmere Wood, and Musk. The end result is what you might imagine a haunted forest to smell like.

Ormonde Woman from Ormonde Jayne I always describe as a witchy woodsy scent. Black Hemlock, Grass Oil, and Vetiver blend to create a mossy, earthy, slightly dank essence that is reminiscent of being in the woods. Cardamom and Coriandre add a gentle spicy essence, and Violet and Jasmine add a gentle feminine touch. Cedarwood and Sandalwood deepen the forest-like richness, and you can picture yourself deep in the woods somewhere.

Ormonde Man from Ormonde Jayne recreates the aroma of being in the outdoors on a crisp afternoon. A woody blend of Oudh, Black Hemlock, Cedarwood, and Sandalwood are brightened Spices, Juniper, and Bergamot. It has a rugged, yet aromatic and refreshing quality to it.

Evernia from Ormonde Jayne blends spices and flowers with a bright note of Bergamot and a large dose of Oakmoss, and the depth of Sandalwood, Opoponx, and Musk. It creates a vivid image of sitting on the porch of your cabin in the woods at sunset, drinking a Gin & Tonic, just taking in the beauty of your surroundings.

Try them all for yourself and maybe you’ll be taken on a wooded sensory journey too.
