Baccarat Rouge 540 was born of a collaboration between Maison Francis Kurkdjian and the Baccarat Crystal House for its 250th Anniversary.
The iconic 'Rouge A L’Or', or 'Golden Red Color', of the Baccarat Manufactory inspired the design of this unique scent.
To achieve this special Rouge color, clear crystal is gradually fused with 24-Karat Gold Powder at 540 degrees(1,004F).
Baccarat Rouge 540 was originally released in 2014 in a series of 250 numbered bottles, housed in a bottle designed in 1940 by Georges Chevalier, Baccarat’s Creative Director from 1916 through the 1970’s.
The scent quickly became an obsession around the world, and within a year was released as a permanent scent within the Maison Francis Kurkdjian collection in its Eau de Parfum form, and later in its Extrait form in 2017.
The scent of Baccarat Rouge 540 is luminous and intense, yet airy and bright. Its composition includes:
-Hedione - A compound that evokes the delicacy of Jasmine with a slight lemony nuance.
-Ambroxan - A note extracted from Sclareol(Clary Sage) that emulates the woody, sweet, mineral facets of Amber.
-Virginian Cedar - A crisp and creamy woody with fresh elements that is derived from the Juniper family.
-Saffron - Uses Saffronal, an organic compound isolated from Saffron. This is done to eliminate the allergens found in this exotic spice.
The combination of these notes evokes a comforting, yet sensual sense.
The warmth created evokes the heat of the fire used to create the eye-catching color of the crystal, the spices and woods evoke the mineral essence of the Baccarat Crystals, and the timelessness this scent has garnered evokes the craftsmanship of both the crystal makers and the perfumer.
